A Cuba Sandwich and a Love Story
There’s a movie I love called Chef.
It’s about a world-renowned chef who, after losing his job, rediscovers joy and purpose by running a food truck with his son—serving something simple yet full of heart: the Cuba Sandwich.
It’s not just about the food.
It’s about the love behind it. The way a meal can carry someone's care, their story, their roots. The way cooking becomes a language—a way to say “I see you,” “I miss you,” or just “I care.”
Recently, I visited a restaurant inspired by the film. I ordered their signature Cuba Sandwich, and with that first bite, I remembered exactly why that story stuck with me.
It reminded me how food connects us.
To people.
To memories.
To moments that matter.
I’ve always believed that when someone cooks for you, they’re offering a little piece of their soul. That’s what love looks like to me—served warm, pressed crispy, and full of flavor.
