How I Fell in Love with Inuyama Tea
The Story Behind tea@japan
Our Story
The Heart Behind tea@japan

The Moment I Knew
I grew up in Inuyama, a quiet town with a beautiful old castle. Every Sunday, I’d visit the farmers market and pick up fresh tea leaves—without thinking much of it. Tea was just part of life.
Years later, while working in international trade, I realized how deeply tea had stayed with me.
One night, watching a documentary about Japanese food, I thought:
Why not our tea?
Not matcha lattes—but the kind we really drink.
Simple, honest, handmade. That’s when the idea for tea@japan began to grow.
-
Why I Started tea@japan
I started tea@japan not just to sell tea, but to share something personal.
This tea is part of my life—and the lives of the farmers who grow it with quiet care. They don’t chase trends. They don’t ask for praise.
They just focus on making good tea, season after season. But I began to wonder—can this way of life continue if no one sees it?
I wanted to help. To make sure their work is valued, and their tea reaches the people who truly appreciate it.

More Than Just Tea
That’s what tea@japan is about.
Not trends. Not mass production.
Just honest tea—carefully grown, thoughtfully shared. We believe good tea finds the right people.
If you’ve ever felt something in a quiet cup—warmth, calm, a sense of home—then maybe this tea is meant for you. From my home in Inuyama to yours,
Thank you for being here.— Yuko

Fresh, earthy, and smooth—just like in Japan. I also love the comforting roasted flavor of Hojicha.
Thank you so much—this means the world to us!
You just left us our very first review, and we honestly couldn’t have asked for a warmer one. We're thrilled our tea brought you that comforting, homey feeling. And yes, Hojicha's roasted goodness really is something special. Can’t wait to share more cups with you!
