How I Fell in Love with Inuyama Tea
The Story Behind tea@japan

The Heart Behind tea@japan

The Moment I Knew
I was born and raised in Inuyama, a quiet town known for its beautiful castle. Every Sunday, I visited the farmers market near the castle—always picking up fresh tea leaves without thinking much of it. It was just part of life.
Years later, while working in international trade, I realized that tea had always been with me. It wasn’t just a routine—it was something deeply rooted.
One night, watching a Netflix documentary where chefs praised Japanese cuisine, I thought: why not our tea? Not trendy matcha lattes, but real, hand-crafted green tea.
That moment planted a seed.

Why I Started tea@japan
I launched tea@japan not just as a business, but as a way to share something personal. This tea is part of who I am. It’s part of my home. And behind it are the farmers—humble, hardworking people who never ask for praise. They focus only on making their tea better, season after season. They never chase jackpots or trends. Their dedication is quiet, almost invisible—but it’s everything.
Still, I began to wonder: is this enough? Can we keep going if it’s not sustainable? I wanted to make sure that the people who grow this tea are supported. That they feel seen and valued. That their way of life can thrive.

More Than Just Tea
That’s what tea@japan is all about. Not chasing trends or producing in bulk—just honest tea, carefully grown and thoughtfully shared.
We believe good tea finds the people who appreciate it. Those quiet moments, that warm feeling, the simple joy of knowing where your tea comes from—if that resonates with you, we’re glad you're here.
From my home in Inuyama to yours—thank you for being part of this journey.
P.S. If you’ve ever had a cup of tea that made you pause, smile, or feel something familiar—this just might be your kind of tea.

Fresh, earthy, and smooth—just like in Japan. I also love the comforting roasted flavor of Hojicha.
